ET GBS: FM Jaitley says budget will be determined by resources, growth potential, tax buoyancy

ET GBS: FM Jaitley says budget will be determined by resources, growth potential, tax buoyancy Jaitley reiterated that the government was against retrospective taxes, saying these had brought little by way of revenue but given the country a bad name. NEW DELHI:  Finance minister   Arun Jaitley said the direction of this year's budget will be determined by the resources India has, the economy's growth potential and tax buoyancy. It won't be populist, he said. He said there were arguments in favour of keeping the public spending tap open as well as maintaining the credibility of governance by sticking to fiscal deficit targets. A third view was: "Should you have targets at all that constrain you? In a fast-moving situation, government has the mandate to decide." What the government decides will be revealed in the budget that's to be announced by him at the end of February, Jaitley said at the Airtel-Economic Times Global Business  Summit on Saturday.

India’s largest job creator and contributor to exports, the small and medium sectors are in need of urgent attention of the PM’s ‘Start-Up India’ programme as stated by the Engineering Exporters Apex body EEPC India Chairman T S Bhasin when the exports from these sectors had a double-digit fall for several months in a row. Extending the benefits of the programme to SME exporters would help them cope up with the global slowdown and maintain the country’s current account stability. Mr. Bhasin also remarked how cautious the government needs to get before cuffing restrictions on the import of essential raw material like steel.  Liberal export incentives are the need of the hour in order to handle the situation since waiting for the budget till the end of February would be too late.

Sanctions against Iran lifted after compliance with nuclear deal

Crippling economic sanctions on Iran have been lifted as the UN confirms Tehran has drastically scaled down its nuclear programme. The move came after a remarkable day that saw the release of four dual nationals and a teenage student in a prisoner swap with the US. The Iranian-Americans were released in exchange for seven Iranian nationals held in US prisons, apparently for violating sanctions. The timing of the prisoner swap suggests that the issue had been discussed on the side-lines of the nuclear talks, despite denial from both sides. As a result of lifting of sanctions, Iranian banks will soon re-establish connections with the European financial system, and private firms can now pursue business opportunities without fear of western punishment. About $30bn (£21bn) of a total of $100bn in frozen assets will be released to Iran imminently. The lifting of sanctions, will also include an end to an EU embargo on imports of Iranian oil, will also affect the global oil market, as Te

7 REASONS WE LOVE COLLEGE LIFE

     1) HAVE A VARIETY OF FRIENDS We surely have one great friend who always helps us get a proxy.  Another studious friend who comes to our rescue for assignments and tests. A complete opposite one who will never want to attend classes and also not let you do (which we anyway don’t really wish to do!). And let’s not forget the jugaddu friend who has a solution for all our problems and the most jankaar dost who knows all about the cool stuff which is happening in and around college.     2)SPEND MORE TIME HANGING OUT THAN IN COLLEGE We perhaps know about all the cool hang outs near our college and just wait for our friend to say, “ chalo yaar , let’s try this new restaurant”,  and off we go without having a second thought. We bunk classes, eat out, just sit and relax in any place outside college. Our Facebook page is flooded with the endless selfies and photos we take with our buddies.      3)ARE MORE INTERESTED IN GOSSIP GOING AROUND IN COLLEGE
