Many Firsts on India’s
67th Republic Day

While this Republic Day was no less than the previous
annual showcases with India’s military vivacity and achievements showcased
along with the diverse cultures and traditions of the people of the country, the
year 2016 saw a lot of firsts this year.
A
123-member French army contingent marched for the first time in the history of
Republic Day parades on Rajpath.
Another first was witnessed at the parade when the
veterans exhibited their role in the nation building with an ex-servicemen tableau.
Further,a march by an Army dog squad drawn from the
Remount Veterinary Corps was witnessed by the crowd after a gap of 26 years.
While the aerobatics and the stunts by daredevils of
the Army Signal corps were a highlight of the show, the precision of various
army tableaus were admired by many.
The folk and classical dance performances by the
school children from many parts of India were an absolute delight.
