With over a billion people upgrading to smartphones, the major instant messaging giant realises it's crucial fiddel. In a recent DLD conference in Munich, Germany, the founder of whatsapp, Jan koum informed that whatsapp will be dropping its 1$ per year charge.
"Nearly a billion people around the world today rely on whatsapp to stay in touch with their friends and family... That's why we are happy to announce that whatsapp will no longer charge subscription fee." Said the official whatsapp blog on Monday.
Whatsapp also plans further updates on the app like accounts specifically for businesses and third party advertisement platforms to get an edge over other messaging apps like hike and facebook messenger. Since business and commercial interaction is already being done over whatsapp by a lot of people, this would further help in the same task by filtering spam ads and fraudulent information.
So, our daily messenger is all geared up for the new year and smartphone users can expect a good package of technology upgrades for the year ahead.
