This is MCD signing off !!
‘Captain
Cool’ …well that’s what the world called him. But not anymore. For not because
he failed to hold his nerves or something but because he is not our captain
anymore.
India
and the world witnessed the end of a golden era in the history of cricket when
Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepped down as the limited overs captain of Indian team
on January 4 of this year. The legacy left by him will be hard to match for all
the captains that are to follow, for such are the milestones achieved by him
during his tenure as Indian captain.
It
is interesting to know that the cricketing legend made his ODI debut against
Bangladesh in 2004 and got run out for his first ball and went back without
making any runs. Well sure enough, he has come a long way. There has been many
defining moments during the captaincy of Dhoni. We still remember the day Dhoni
guided India towards T20 World cup glory when India won against arch rivals
Pakistan in finals.
Whole
of India rejoiced to life when India won the ODI World cup in 2011. The picture
of Dhoni hitting the winning six is still fresh in everyone’s mind. He is the
only captain to guide our country to so many world titles- The T20 World cup,
DI World Championship and last being the Championship Trophy. He has been the
biggest entertainer in cricket – scoring runs when the team needed and
completing everything by hitting his iconic HELICOPTER SHOT. He is always known
for his everlasting batting and finishing skills.
Well
even though he is not the captain anymore, he will always remain the coolest
cricketer that the world has ever seen. Words of Mahendra Singh Dhoni himself
defines him the best- ‘I believe in
giving more than 100% on the field, and I don’t really worry about the results.
If there’s great commitment on field, that’s victory for
me.’
