Coz the heart says
'Resolutions are meant to be broken'
Surely there is no better time than a New Year
for turning over a new leaf and taking steps towards your goals. Hence, the
first week of January is the time for making Resolutions – things one
wishes to accomplish, take up a good habit or leave a bad habit, looking
forward to something new and more!
While some people don’t make resolutions at all
as they know if they do, they will be straying from their declared path of self
improvement, there are many others who make resolutions religiously. However,
the bitter truth is that most of the resolutions die as early as the second
week of January, or if you are lucky, you survive the entire month but
definitely not longer than this!
Here are some of the most popular resolutions
people make each year but fail to keep them—
•
DIET! EXERCISE!
“I’ll hit the gym and lose 20 kilos
this year.” This is one of the most common of the resolutions and always an
epic fail. Admit it or not, it is really
hard to avoid binging on unhealthy and cease a sedentary lifestyle.
•
GIVING UP BOOZE/ QUITTING
SMOKING
Do you realize you made this
resolution while you were still drinking at the New Year’s party?
•
GO SLOW ON IMPULSIVE
SHOPPING
Come on! It’s New Year and of
course, you are in high spirits, how can you resist yourself from unnecessary
shopping? And you think to yourself,
“Who was I kidding when I made this resolution?”
•
SPEND MORE TIME WITH THE
FAMILY
Before you make this goal, you
actually need to define how you are going to spend more time with the family or
what you are going to discuss with them. Probably you won’t end up talking
about your obscure obsessions or even demonetization. Will you?
•
BE ORGANIZED
This is one of the toughest resolutions
and hence, commands sheer resilience on your part.
Before you make this resolution you need to come up with a more absolute
plan -‘ To shake off lethargy’ because
this is the road to being organized and nurturing time management skills.
This goal is hardly accomplished.
•
SLEEP EARLY AND WAKE UP
EARLY
December 31- “ I'll have
proper sleep schedules this year and keep my energy levels revved up”
January 1, 2 a.m - One last episode
for the night, and you end up watching three more.
Already accepted that this one can’t be
maintained? Ofcourse, binge tv watching, movie nights, social media addiction,
none of them allow us to sleep on time.
•
“I WILL STUDY HARDER”
Perhaps, one of the most popular
resolutions of every student life. However, this one seems to hard to attain
and is often breakable.
•
SAVE MORE! SPEND LESS!
Ceasing unnecessary shopping,
abandoning credit cards, avoiding unnecessary expenditure and being thrifty can
prove overwhelming and frustrating. This kind of a resolution is legit easy to
be broken soon!
•
SPEND LESS TIME ON SOCIAL
MEDIA
A goal to stop leading more of a
virtual social life may seem too lofty and is often hard to attain.
•
ACQUIRE A NEW SKILL/ HOBBY
You may plan to use your time
constructively and learn a new hobby but chances are more of it being forgotten
in a few days despite the high degree of conviction in making it.
So many such resolutions are made every year,
but then again, they are made to broken. Which one among the above is yours and
is never fulfilled?
