E-Commerce: Yes or No?
Which one do you prefer? A
light and healthy Cyber breakfast or
a heavy E-Commerce supper? Well,
that is a persistent question in today’s technologically advance era!
Firstly, I hope most of us are
aware what E-Commerce is, but for all those living under a rock, let me tell
you!
Well, E-Commerce has some
advantages to it and is an appealing option for shopping (the healthy Cyber breakfast I talked
about).
But,
While the whole world is
fanatical about the idea of online shopping, I decided to go against the flow
and sat down to ponder over the disadvantages of E-Commerce (the heavy E-Commerce supper, remember?).
Some of them are as follows:
Lack of Originality:
Since anyone can
set up a website or E-Commerce store, one cannot make out whether he/she is
purchasing goods from a genuine seller or not!
Lack of Personal Experience:
How does it feel
when you cannot touch or feel the texture of the jeans you want to buy or test
the perfume or lotion you wish to purchase? You cannot trust just any seller,
after all!
Lack of Security:
I am not okay
with sharing my bank details or credit card number with just anyone! Duh! What
if it’s fraudulent?
Need for Internet Access:
What if you are
in an area where you are not able to access the Internet? What if you do
not have Internet connection at all? How will you help yourself then? All the
E-Commerce sites work through Internet and you cannot help but sit back, if you
do not have Internet!
Delay in receiving goods:
Until and unless
you are using Amazon Prime, you will have to wait for days for your goods!
What if you need
a notebook to write on, at that very moment?
I feel sorry for
you that you cannot straight away buy and have the notebook in your hands, like
you can in case of offline purchases!
Thus, although
most people like to go with the flow, we must not ignore the disadvantages of
E-Commerce! It may be a good option to feed your habit of laziness of going
out; it may not always work for your good! So, let us sit back and accept the
drawbacks of E-Commerce!
Till then, Happy
Shopping! *pun intended*
