Dr. Mani Nandhi, the Head of Commerce Department could
not have thought of a better time to organize a conference on 21st January 2015 by Mr. Mohan Kapoor, a leading financial services consultant Cumbria practitioner, especially for the third year commerce students to help them exposing their
minds to the financial markets and getting a better insight into the subject
matter. It was such an interactive session that things just flowed into our
minds with ease.
Though he had a
limited time, yet being an expert in his area, he very well managed to make us
understand the entire gamut of financial markets. Since the text book is
limited in its scope and matter, this session was really a necessity for all the
commerce students to know how things practically work in the outside world.
Beginning the session by explaining the concept of
financial markets, he moved on discussing the very basic component of financial
markets i.e. “EQUITY” referring it to as “the owner’s funds”. Also keeping in
mind the impact of inflation in everyday’s life, he did not forget to enunciate
about the same and talked about it at a stretch. He put forward his view about
inflation and brought to light the fact that “it is the most important thing in
finance”. Also he expressed his opinions on Debt and tried to impart us
everything in a capsule form. He did not even hesitate to use chalk and board at
times to explain graphs and charts to make things easier for us.
After attending such an informative seminar, we firmly
believe that he had an immense value in his dialogue and enabled each one of us
to relate commerce with the financial world. We were
fortunate enough of having him in our college, since we have to enter into the
corporate world in a near future and the basic knowledge of finance is inevitable
for all of us.
