DU:The Fresher Story
Getting admission to a DU college seems like crossing the finish line of a race that has not yet begun. Well, after cutting through the steeper than Mt Everest cutoffs, why would it not be?
Between the rejoice and relief, comes the first day of college.
We walk past those gates with an air of expectation, independence and nervousness around us. Instead of students high on the cool quotient,we see puzzled students trying to find their way and probably, trying to find themselves.(Myth 1:Busted)
After a few days in college,it dawns upon us that college is NOT equivalent to absolute chill and there is serious study going on.(Myth 2:Busted)
While exploring the whereabouts of our college,we discover a phenomenon called Assignments & Tests which require regular study, just when we thought we were on a vacation from the arduous board examination period.(Myth 3:Busted)
While on the myth busting ride,we experienced stuff, far better and beyond our expectations....
One is the cooperative and kind attitude of seniors as opposed to the infamous bulley image.
Second are the College Socities-much cooler than the cafés at Satya Niketan or Hudson Lane. An escape from the classroom monotony-students coming up with innovative ideas, generating funds autonomously, marketing their projects in unconventional ways and organising mass events-like a bunch of talented and enthusiastic students on a mission. These are just few words to describe how these eminent socities function!
The coolest part is the audition stage where in one corner you see enunciation of cult bollywood dialogues, sizzling dance performances in the other and then cues outside classrooms discussing the grilling PI's.
And then we have the much speculated, splendid freshers'.
Before we even realize ,the place that seemed intimidating in the beginning starts to feel home like and we embark on a journey loaded with ups and downs, friendships and opportunities that is going to define our lives.
