“Sports do not build characters but reveals
it”, with these great words of
inspiration and motivation by Heywood Broun ,The league for Asian Games 2018
began in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia on 18 August with the most prominent 45 participant countries of
the world.
With an entangled view of Asian games they would appear to be the
most important platform where women have marvelously showcased in true spirits
their courage, skills and passion for pursuance of a noble place in the
controversial patriarchal societies .This scenario is just not only valid for
India but for other countries as well.
On a finger count these are Japan,Iran and China.
Talking with
reference to Indian context,This Asian season proved to be a dynamic year that
absolutely changed the lop-sided sports spirit of some into national team
spirit of many, that moved the players to succeed and attain a total toll of 65
medals in hand. The Indian athletes be it Jinson Johnson or Hina Das, have been
giving their country the enduring moments of collecting medals. With Rahi
Sarobats stratergic moves, even shooting unveiled itself to be worth proving,
fetching India another gold.
Indian hockey and Tennis teams have equivalently
stunned countries like Hong Kong and showed them that India is no where willing
to tackIe another defeat.
In comparison with the huge tally of 263 medals that
China won or 196 that of Japan, India though not being at par numerically with
such countries but has immensely grown with respect to socio-economic
aspect.
Initially where women were forced into house chores have now
considerably come up with almost all streams of games. Even men who remained
restricted to athletics and power lifting, have moved into avenues of modern
sports like swimming and tennis. Significantly, India has proven to reduce the
gender inequalities and partial development, because of which everyone feels that to be India’s biggest growth much
more than the numerical tally.
