DIWALI- A FESTIVAL OF SELF-REALISATION Diwali, the festival of lights, love and happiness is once again being celebrated with great vigour and devotion. A national favorite, this festival is filled with sweets, meet and greet, and traditions.  Mythology says, in the honour of Rama’s home arrival, the people of Ayodhya decorated the kingdom with Diyas. Symbolically, Diyas were lit to dispel the darkness of gloom, inequality and despair because Rama, the flag bearer of truth, hope and love had arrived. Although this practice of diya lighting is still prevalent, but somehow, the deep meaning is lost somewhere. Materialistic attitudes and extravagant celebrations have taken over the nobility of the occasion. Diwali is an occasion to reflect upon ourselves and acknowledge the positivity within.
