It was indeed a matter of great honour and privilege to have the highest authority of the nation- the reverend President of India, Sh. Ram Nath Kovind, at the Inaugural Ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of our college on September 20, 2017. While addressing to the students, Sh. Kovind praised that our institution has contributed enormously to the cause of education not only in New Delhi but in the entire country, through teaching and preparing young girls to contribute to the society and to the economy and become a part of the nation building.
The ceremony started well in time with the National Anthem proceeded by several performances. First presented on stage was a graceful ‘Darbu’, the dance form of the Mizos (people in Mizoram), prepared by the students of our college.
Next in line was the outstanding Gymnastics Performance followed by Yoga, again by our college students. The Indian Dance Society of our college, Nrityanjali also gave a grand performance, keeping the audience astounded and amazed. The performances were followed by the President’s speech whereby he primarily highlighted the importance of education in the process of nation-building. He exclaimed that the goal of education is to use the degrees for the economic benefit of the nation. On the same, he also praised the college for partnering with a nearby NDMC school for the development of students and their institution. "This is a praiseworthy example of giving back to the society. It can be adopted by other colleges too," he said.
He also added that missionary institutions such as our college have become symbols of scholarship, dedicated teaching and academic excellence.
"An educated girl contributes to the economy and at work. She also ensures that other children in the family, are educated. The next generation is made responsible and educated through the education of the girl.” In this way, the larger social impact of girl's education is significant," President Kovind said.
Eventually, pointing out to how the society deals with the changes around, the President said, “India is in the midst of multiple transformations. The nature of our economy and the very concept of a workplace is also changing. We need to upgrade our higher education system and, to the extent possible, make it future proof."
